What Are the Options for Straightening My Teeth?

Teeth-straightening options differ in appearance, cleaning needs and how they are worn. A dental assessment helps match an appliance to your alignment and bite.

Fixed braces

Metal braces use brackets and wires attached to teeth. Ceramic brackets are less conspicuous. Self-ligating braces hold the wire with clips, while lingual braces sit behind teeth. Availability and suitability should be discussed with the clinic.

Clear aligners

Clear aligners are removable trays that guide teeth through planned movements. They can be taken out for eating and cleaning, but need consistent wear as directed. The dentist assesses whether they can address your particular bite and alignment.

Choose with a treatment plan

Discuss your goals, daily routine, cleaning habits and budget alongside the clinical findings. Ask about follow-up visits and retention after treatment. Appliance design alone does not determine treatment speed, comfort or the final outcome.
